i started working in film and television production over ten years ago as a staff production assistant for discovery channel. taking the advice from many of my mentors at the time, i tried to get my hands and head involved in as many aspects of production as i could. starting with eco-challenge in argentina and a 16mm film called hidden yellowstone i was able to get out into the field to assist a great DP, and also into the edit suite alongside a great editor. i quickly realized i enjoyed capturing and editing footage so i began to pursue both, taking avid editing classes as well as filming/assisting constantly, which culminated in a short documentary i made with marissa ronca (TLC and TRU TV) about a dogwalker in washington dc. “dog’s next friend” went on to win rosebud international filmfest and traveled around the festival circuit in the US.
over the next few years i continued working for discovery channel, pbs, travel channel, tlc, and discovery health channel either editing or working as b-camera/field producer. i also got my first taste of steadicam in 2002 and eventually took the steadicam operators association workshop to better understand all aspects of operating one of the greatest cinematic tools ever made. i am lucky enough today to not only own and operate a steadicam, but am grateful to be able to teach it to others at the workshops where i learned.
currently i work as a cinematographer and steadicam operator on documentary/reality/dramatic/travel television shows for network broadcast, music videos and films. i still maintain my edit skills when i can and do some still photography work as well. i most enjoy working with producers and directors to help them get the best footage and stories in the can and on the screen, whether it is an educational video, nature program, lifestyle show, music video or indie film. i am available for travel both domestically and abroad and work with all formats of cameras for any type of production and will provide a professional, fun. creative attitude along with top notch camera services.
